In 2022 Ather has seen YOY sales of 250% (approx) in its electric scooter sales. The introduction of Ather 450X Gen 3 electric scooter has supported the company greatly in achieving such a huge milestone. If we look at the whole market the electric 2W industry has grown to a huge extent in India, which in return has supported all the EV-2W makers in growing their EV sales.
But now the companies can’t work at the same pace to deliver products to their continuously growing customer base. Ola Electric was preparing itself from starting itself to deliver to a larger customer base, their 500Acers future factory is capable enough to produce millions of electric scooters. Now Ather is pawing its ways to produce the same quantity.
Ather is making another factory increase its production to 200% from what it has now and the company is planning to do so by March 2023. The existing production line of Ather is making 9000 units/month which Ather is planning to increase to 20,000 units/month.
Ather CEO Tarun Mehta revealed his strategy to place the Ather showrooms that’ll enable them to reach a larger audience and improve their sales. He also said that the company will increase production from 9000 to 15,000 by Jan 2023 and to 20,000 by the end of this financial year.
Ather has seen a significant increase in sales after Diwali month and especially after the launch of Ather 450X Gen 3. Previously customers were resistant to buying the scooter due to its very less range and various other reasons, but with their 450X Gen 3, the company has fixed all the existing problems with its scooter as projected the sales of Ather Energy shot up after that.
In the upcoming months, Ather is planning to build its showrooms in the city outskirts and focus more on the remote areas. This decision of the company is just the opposite of the ideas/policy that the company initiated with. Now it’s worth to wait and watch, how will this strategy will result in the overall sales of the company.
Earlier also when Ather Energy was questioned about its dampening sales numbers, the response usually was related to supply chain issues and Ather is planning to eliminate this problem by increasing its production in this period of a healthy supply chain economy.
Tarun Marhta added that with this wave of manufacturing facilities Ather Energy is planning to open 10-11 new dealerships every month.
